What God told me about Perfectionism

August 30, 2025

I am sharing my personal journal with God.

Heavenly Father,

Can you please tell me when/where the Spirit of Perfectionism came into my life?

The Spirit of Rejection opens the door to the Spirit of Perfectionism. You believed a lie that if you became ‘perfect; you could avoid the pain of rejection, judgment. Self-judgment and confusion about who you are. You made an inner vow that you would never be called stupid again and this one vow closed the door to many opportunities and possibilities.  Because Perfection never allows mistakes or failures.

Rejection has come at many points in your life.  It’s pain has always resulted in you Rejecting yourself.  This had you working hard to form yourself into an image that was worthy of acceptance. Perfectionism is not reality. It’s a lie from the enemy to keep you on a hamster wheel of STRIVING and SELF-HATE and PUNISHMENT.

“Lord, thank you for showing me the Truth.  I repent for allowing Rejection, Perfectionism, Striving and Self Hate to rule my heart and dominate my life, thoughts and goals. Today I break the inner vow that I will avoid being called Stupid at all costs. Anyone has the Power to call me anything.  I will not allow the fear of man to restrict, reduce or control my life.I will allow my Abba full access to define me, Lord. Tell me what you have to say.”

“My Precious Jules, I give you full permission to accept your imperfect self.  I give you full permission to make mistakes and errors for this is how you learn and grow.  I give you full permission to come to me at anytime for anything.  You most certainly DO NOT need to fix yourself before you do. I delight in helping you.  I will not close the door in your face, tell you you’re someone else’s problem or expect you to know things that take life experience.  I am a good Father that longs to lead, guide, protect and provide.  My love is endless and deep.  I gave everything so you could be eternally mine.  That’s how worthy you are.”

“Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your blessing upon my life. I am made in your image, destined to do great things with the gifts, talents and favor you’ve given me.

Forgive me for bowing to the pressure of perfectionism, for this has never been my destiny or calling.

You have called me to authenticity and excellence, so give me the discernment I need to see when I am expecting too much from myself.

Perfectionism is tied up to pride, so I humble myself before you, knowing anything you’ve called me to do, you will empower me with all I need.

I repent for striving to prove my worthiness.

My value does not come from what I do but from who I am in you.

Give me the deepest revelation of this so I don’t wallow in insecurity and the approval of men.

For I am determined to move through life with the courage and boldness you designed me for.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”
