“The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
“A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory.” Isaiah 42:3
I was praying to God the other day, thanking Him for His patience and tenderness. So grateful for His touch on my life to help turn things around. As I was sharing how important it was to hear from Him, I thought about my dad. I got sad thinking about how I never hear from him and how I’ve grown to accept that. A wave of longing but a desire to fully let go overtook me.
I felt God’s comfort whisper to my heart, “What if this great hole in your heart, has caused you to know me as your father? I began to ponder. If God is close to the broken-hearted, perhaps my broken heart was a gift so that God could enter the rift. Maybe, if I had a different circumstance, I would not know God or hear Him the way I do.
If you’re struggling in your broken-ness, I want to encourage you that according to God’s own word, being broken is not a disadvantage!
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.” Genesis 50:20
Don’t go into self-pity, go into praise as we don’t serve a God who does not understand Rejection. Jesus had unbroken fellowship all the way up to the cross, but in His greatest hour of need, God was not there. This is Jesus’ words on the cross:
“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Matthew 27 :46
Jesus was rejected by God His Father because of ME and MY sin! Jesus suffered not only physically but psychologically. Rejection is a wound that is almost unbearable. But, Jesus suffered that so we may have God’s acceptance. If you feel as if you’re wandering this world without direction because you haven’t experienced the love of a Father…God wants to be your Daddy. No matter how old, sophisticated or educated you are we all need a Daddy to listen, care, lead, encourage, empower and teach us about life.
The Bible promises:
“You have received a spirit of adoption through which we cry, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit itself bars witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” Romans 8:15-17
If you’re looking to experience God as your Daddy, pray with me.
“Heavenly Father,
What a priceless gift! Jesus paid my sin debt with His life.
There is no greater love than that.
I accept Jesus as my Savior.
This makes me your child.
I am not rejected—through Christ, I am accepted!
God is my Father.
Heaven is my home.
I’m an eternal member of God’s family.
God loves me. He does not tolerate me. He adores me.
Today, I receive His love.
I reject the Spirit of Rejection which whispers lies to keep me bound.
I will walk in the ways of Blessing.
I’ve been trapped, tangled and tripped up in anger and offense for too long.
By my own free will, I choose to walk away from the snare of the enemy.
Jesus died to set me free, and I release shame from my name.
I declare today, I will walk in freedom with God and man.
Help me Lord, fulfill your plan.
My life is yours, In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
