If The enemy cannot get to the Believer in his/her waking hours, he most certainly will attack at night. If you have one area where you are lacking in trust in the Lord, this is where he will apply pressure and use that one portion of fear or distrust to dismantle you. The enemy wants to cause you to carry your burdens. But this is what God says:
“Cast all your cares upon Him for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Satan will give you dreams to set your mind and whole day off course! Remember, God wants you in His Spirit. The devil wants you in your Flesh.
How the Enemy will get you into your Flesh is he will give you dreams to appeal to it. Dreams of:
- Money/Influence/Power
- Vanity/Pride
- Gluttony/ Rich Food or Drink
- Sexual Perversion
- Depression or Hopelessness/ God abandoned you
When God speaks, He brings:
- Peace
- Truth
- Revelation
- Clarity
If the enemy cones at you with a demonic, tormenting dream, right when you awaken, don’t entertain it, talk about it or think about it. Do NOT mediate on it. John Rameriz shares a story of when he was a satanist, he would attack strong Believers in the middle of the night to torment them, so they were not effective during the day. This is a warfare tactic in the natural realm, and it is also one in the spiritual realm. We are vulnerable at night, and this is why we need to be on guard.
He also shares a story of a woman who went to get prayer at a Spirit-filled church. The intercessor said to her, “I saw you lying in the street with ambulances all around you. I don’t know what happened, but you were in a terrible accident.”The woman who received prayer was very successful but after that demonic word was spoken over her, she was so stricken with Fear and Dread that she stopped leaving her home. She ended up losing her job and everything.
We must be careful NOT to receive everything handed to us. We can hold a Word someone give us loosely, bring it before the Holy Spirit and say, “Is this meant for me?” There is POWER in rejecting a lie and a curse! If something generates Fear or Worry, just remember what God’s word says:
“God has not given us a Spirit of Fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 1 Timothy 2:17
Never accept or own a word until you have counseled with the Holy Spirit about it. The Enemy can use people (even in the church) to be his mouthpiece to manipulate and control you.
God’s word says:
“Finally Brethren, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Demonic Dreams are given to Children of God to lead them away from the will of God.
The devil may give you dreams which are disjointed and confusing because he wants you thinking, reasoning, mediating on things he plants within you, so you begin to combine your own fearful imaginations with his. This is his tactic to PERSONALIZE the weapon he is trying to form against you!
When God allows tormenting dreams, it’s because He wants you to learn to be vigilant even in the night hours.
“Lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11
The enemy will always try to attack when we are most vulnerable so we must be on guard for that. It’s a classic war tactic to attack in the night because people are relaxed and not aware. As soon as you get a demonic dream, when you awaken, curse it to the roots! If you get a dream where you are paralyzed and cannot move or talk, it is a set-up for more Fear tactics to be sent your way.
Prayer against Sleep Paralysis and Night Terrors:
“Heavenly Father,
I praise you for I am under the wings of the Almighty, my Good Shephard and friend.
You have promised your Beloved sweet sleep and the Enemy has come to steal my portion.
By the power of the blood of Jesus, I command the Fire of God on every tormenting Spirit, Spirit of Fear, Dread and Night Terrors.
I send the Fire of God to paralyze and stricken every sleep paralysis assignment and demon attached to them.
By the blood of Jesus, I erase my name off their attack list. There is no leverage over me. I remove every straight jacket, binding ties and gag in the spirit.
I command the Heavenly Host sent to protect me to double their troops in the night hours. Equip my angels with swords of fire to decapitate any spirit assigned against my sleep.
I release the anointing of the Holy Spirit over my spirit! Lord, unleash your power to fulfill my destiny.
I declare all the days of my life will be filled with God’s vision—not strife!
I declare my dreams will align with God’s dream for me. God himself instructs me in my sleep and when I awaken I am refreshed with purpose, understanding, joy and strength.
I will live in the Rest of God, allowing Peace to fill my day and night.
Worry, Fear and Night Terror cannot enter my thoughts for they’re covered in the blood of Jesus and I have the mind of Christ!
Lord, give me the power and clarity to fight the good fight in my dreams. When the enemy attacks, I will only equip others of his strategy.
Let the word of God come to my remembrance so I can dismantle all weapons formed against me.
In Jesus’ name, I cancel the enemy’s plans and projections over my life. I will praise the Lord for a new day and my fresh start in Him! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
