Depression is something that has been a life-time struggle for me. In fact, one of my best friends Jessica and I connect over this as we both grew up in households were negativity ruled.
As a Believer, I know this is not God’s portion for me. One day John just said, “Why don’t you just choose joy?” His words shocked and puzzled me because I never thought of it as a choice. I either woke up depressed or I didn’t. It was really just a luck of the draw.
Lately, the enemy has been setting my tone for my days by giving me nightmares. And when I wake up, I am in a cloud of darkness and negativity that takes hours to wear off. So, of course, I journaled about this struggle, and this is the verse the Lord had me meditate on:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22
My Precious Jewels,
I have so many treasures you haven’t discovered…yet! You’ve touched them on a surface level, but you haven’t gone deep. For with me, there is always more.
You know an earthly love, but did you know there is a heavenly version? Just like there is an earthly version of joy, peace and patience there are much higher versions.
When I asked you to partner with me in brining heaven down to earth….my dream was for you to tap into my heavenly abundance.
These things don’t come with a wish and a little prayer. They come by prevailing and discipline.
When you sit in my presence, my glory quenches the flesh, making it fade in importance and value.
My glory is the magnitude of my holiness. Those who tap into my heart with notice their own heart will change.
This is why it’s so vital to spend time with me. For my presence is the source of every good thing and if you want better for yourself and those around you, I am only a breath away.
“Call to me and I will answer you and who you great and mighty things!” Jeremiah 33:3
My people have heard of my peace that passes all understanding but did you know there is also a love, joy, patience kindness, goodness and faithfulness which passes all understanding?
This implies that they are so out of the realm of normal they’ve become supernatural! They are beyond the limitations of nature!
Despite your natural circumstance if you tap into my holiness, and partake of me, I will bless you with these incredible gifts of the spirit so you can bring heaven down to earth.
There is a price to pay for holiness and it is denying the flesh.Many people assume the price is too high to pay so they walk away. They have made assumptions about themselves and me without digging further.
Don’t allow the Spirit of Fear or assumption to seal this great inheritance I have for you here and now and in eternity.
As I continued to search for more understanding, God put it on my heart to start the day off in praise and thanksgiving. So that no matter what the devil had tried to put upon me at night, I would choose Joy and start my day bold and in warfare!
The artist I love is CeCe Winnans, so I have been starting the day worshipping with her and it has been making such a difference.
When my friend Jessica was going back home to see her family, she was struggling with that familiar fear and depression. As this is usual for her to feel this way in her old home.
But, I sent her along with the instructions God had spoke to me through John. “Choose Joy and start your day off in Worship and Praise.”
Jessica did just that and for the first time, her family dynamic shifted dramatically. Her family enjoyed a wonderful time because the most powerful person in the room (the One who has Christ in her) took authority and began to worship, which shifted everything.
I always think it’s important for you to recognize that this is why the body of Christ needs each other. Jessica could have gone on that trip expecting the normal result but after a time of prayer and connecting with her brothers and sisters in the faith, she was able to receive wise instruction which had the power to change not her circumstance but her heart!
This is what the bible says about the heart:
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23
“Heavenly Father,
This world and the enemy of my soul wants to drag me into the depths of depression and hopelessness. Today, I choose joy. I will not go with the flow of my feelings or even speak about my circumstance as it is. I will look to the God who loves me and choose to focus on YOU.
Lord, you are the giver of life and you want me to tap into the abundance of every good gift…but not just on an earthly level. You want me to receive my heavenly portion here on earth so I can give from a supernatural place. I don’t want to give or even receive from a limited place; so remove all barriers from my supernatural portion.
Let everything you have flow to me and through me for I was born to be blessed and be a blessing. Let me be all you created me to be and remove every limiting belief drop to the depths of the earth where they belong.
In Jesus’ name, I receive. I receive. I receive! Help me Believe, believe and keep believing. Amen.”
