“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6
“If God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Matthew 6:30
God has deposited Faith in every Believer. It is our job to cultivate and grow what He has given us. When we don’t do our part to cultivate what God has given, the Enemy will have an easier time sinking you.
Little faith is reflected in these qualities:
- Doubt
- Worry
- Fear
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:29-31
God wants us to use our faith to WALK over our problem, not allow our UnBelief to SINK us. We need to rise up and hold onto our faith and be confident that God has our back. Faith recognizes the voice of God in the storm and acknowledges God is doing something despite us seeing it or not.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
The size of our faith is the size of our God. So what we BELIEVE about God actually matters! How do we get faith?
Faith is built on:
- The knowledge of God.
- The grace of God.
Faith is found with in knowing God. The longer I have been in relationship with my husband, the more I trust he would never lead me wrong and I can trust in his good nature towards me. How much more confidence should we have in God after our years with him? The grace of God opens the eyes of our hearts to get an understanding and revelation of His word.
This is not about education, this is the grace given by God for those who humble themselves before Him. This is what God requires:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18
Faith starts in the classroom of the Holy Spirit, ot the battlefield. But just know every battle you face is a test of your faith.
Will you Believe God? The Enemy knows your faith won’t grow unless you soak in the word.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
When we do not study the word, we have lost our foundation.
Journal Prompts to Increase your Faith:
- Trials are not punishment but preparation.
What trial in your life could God be using to strengthen your faith muscle (James 1:2-3)?
- Faith isn’t just hearing – It’s doing.
What is one small but real step of obedience God might be asking you to take this week (James 1:22)?
- Mercy Triumphs over judgment.
Who in your life needs to receive mercy instead of criticism (James 2:12-13)?
- Faith without action is dead.
If someone looked at your life, what would they see your faith doing (James 2:26)?
Personal Challenge:
- Write down one way you can live out your faith this week – even if it feels small.
Ex: Encourage or pray with someone
- Memorize a bible verse to increase your faith. Write it down repeatedly. Read it out loud multiple times until you’re familiar. Set aside time each day or week to review the verses. Share the verses with others to reinforce your memory and hold yourself accountable.
Prayer for an increase of Faith:
“Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for my apathy. Forgive me for allowing distraction to pull me off the path of your word.
For your world is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my Path. My destination will be thwarted if I’m not on your path of life.
I give you full permission to redirect my steps, Oh Lord.
My life is about you; reflecting your goodness to a world that doesn’t believe and doesn’t see. I cannot afford to be blind or weak if I am to lead them to you.
Forgive me Lord for allowing the seduction of the enemy to cause me to sleep.
I call my spirit man alive! Quench the depths of my soul with your word alone.
Let me become addicted to the nourishment the bread of life gives.
I will live and rejoice in the truth of your word and allow its wisdom to restore my mind, body, spirit and destiny.
Lives will be changed because I did not settle for a good life. I pursued a God-life.
I curse every hindrance, delay, blockage, spiritual slumber, apathy and complacency to its roots.
Lord, redeem lost time and restore my mind to the mind of Christ. In His name, amen!”
