Fasting for Breakthrough | Of Mind, Emotions and Will

April 28, 2026

Each fast is different.  Usually, God will put on my heart a certain number of days to fast and an instruction of what items to fast.  Lately, it’s been the first two meals of the day.  Sometimes, He will have me fast from my favorite food, social media, (which means YouTube for me) sometimes it will be speaking, which entails a silent fast.  Ask what the Lord wants to do specifically for you.  He will give you the strength and wisdom and guide you through it.

As you go through each Day, I highly suggest you journal out what comes up for you so you have a template to pray from.  If you don’t write things down, you will not have a record to look back on and refer to.  This keeps you accountable to your own renouncements and declarations and takes this fast from nebulous to practical.  We must keep things spiritually practical.

If God is calling you to fast, it’s important to remember why you are doing it:

1.Fasting breaks the yoke. Some demonic strongholds aren’t released until there is prayer and fasting.

2.Fasting includes targeted prayer. The most powerful prayers are those which pull on God’s promises (the Word), depending on the faithfulness of God and His character to fulfill his own promise.

3.Fasting brings the wisdom of God, not man. (“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5)

When you need breakthrough in a certain area, this Fasting protocol God woke me from a dead sleep and instructed my heart to do.

We must target the Mind first, Emotions next and the Will last. Each of these days breaks ground for the next day and next layer. The hardest to layer to crack through is the Personal Will.

Day 1: Fast for the Mind.

Day 2: Fast for the Emotions.

Day 3: Fast for the Will.

Day 1:

1.Repent for personal sins of the mind: wrong agreements, generational strongholds, rebellious ways of thinking.

2.Renounce your personal strongholds in your mind, to receive authority to pray against and break off the stronghold of another. Satan will see if there is an open door in our own lives so we must repent. (Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 ) The key word is: RIGHTEOUS MAN.  To be seen as righteous in the eyes of God, we must Repent, Renounce and ask the blood of Jesus to cleanse us. After we Repent and Renounce the sin, we must declare the opposite over our minds as a declaration to renew our minds with whatever God commands.  (“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever thigs are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there is anything praise worthy-meditate on these things.”  Philippians 4:8)

3.Now you can enter the courtroom with boldness and ask for Mercy and Grace because you’ve received it for yourself so you can boldy request for another. (Jesus Himself modeled this prayer: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34)

4.This is where we Declare the Truth of God’s word over the afflicted person’s minds or false beliefs over themselves or a situation.

5.Pray this Prayer:

“Heavenly Father,
I lift up my own personal struggle in my mind.  Please reveal every stronghold I carry in my mind. I repent for my wrong ways of thinking. Wrong ways of believing. I receive the washing of my spirit. So I can come boldly to the throne of grace.
Lord, within the next few  minutes reveal the strongholds in my mind. And, Lord, as I learn these things and repent for them, not only will you wash me clean, but please set me on a new path. So I can do things differently. I commit to writing these down so I can go back to this master list.
I believe that as I repent for my sins, I now carry the power and authority to pray on the behalf of the one I’m fasting for or the situation I’m fasting for. This authority granted to me by Jesus Christ and the blood he shed at the cross.  I don’t take this honor lightly. This is a serious transaction in the courtrooms of heaven. As I intercede, on behalf of another,  Lord Jesus, help me to stay on track. My partnership with purity and the Holy Spirit will continue to make serous tremors in the spiritual realm. In Jesus name, amen.”
Take your time with God and journal out all that comes up for you personally.  Pray deep repentance from your heart.  This prayer gives you access to pray on another’s behalf.
“Heavenly Father,
I interceed and repent for the sins committed against you and others when it comes to thoughts, motives, intentions of the mind.  _____________ does not know what he/she is doing for they are being effected and afflicted by forces stronger than them.  Give them the strength to say no to what they are used to so they can be empowered to live a victorious life.  We cover their future in the blood of Jesus and we thank you that your mercy is greater than your judgment.  Lord, continue to grant ________mercy.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

 Verses for The Mind:

“We demolish arguments and every pretention that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthains 2:16

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace o God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let them it by their good deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.” James 3:14

Day 2:

1.Repent for personal sins of the Emotions: For letting emotions rule decisions, relationships and life choices.

2.Renounce your personal Emotional Strongholds so that you can have the authority to pray against and break off the stronghold of another.  Satan will see if there is an open door in our own lives so its crucial we must do our personal repentance. (Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16) If you cannot be honest in the company of others, then repent to God in private but do NOT skip this step. The key word is: RIGHTEOUS MAN.  To be seen as righteous in the eyes of God, we must Repent, Renounce and ask the blood of Jesus to cleanse us first before we intercede on behalf of another’s sin.)

3.Now you can enter the courtroom with boldness and ask for Mercy and Grace for others because you’ve received it for yourself. (Jesus Himself modeled this prayer: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34)

4.This is where we Declare the Truth of God’s word over the afflicted person’s Emotions or our own Emotions over the particular situation you are fasting for.

5.Pray this Prayer:

“Heavenly Father,
I lift up my own personal struggle in my Emotions.  Please reveal every feeling that has controlled my thinking, acting and believing. I receive the washing of my spirit. So I can come boldly to the throne of grace.
Lord, within the next few  minutes reveal the strongholds of my Emotions. And, Lord, as I learn these things and repent for them, not only will you wash me clean, but please set me on a new path. So I can do things differently. I commit to journaling out this list so I can refer back to it when I need to.
As I repent for my sins, I now carry the power and authority to pray on the behalf of the one I’m fasting for or the situation I’m fasting for.
“Heavenly Father,
I intercede and repent for the sins committed against you and others when it comes to feelings, memories and traumas that make my emotions so volatile.

Verses for The Emotions:

“Submit yourselves, then to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts you double-minded.  Grieve, mourn and wail.  Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:7-10

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” Ephesians 4:31

“For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:16-18

“Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrongs.” Proverbs 10:12

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”  James 1:19-20

“Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” 1 Corinthians 13:4

Day 3:

1.Repent for personal sins of the Will: For the sin of choosing our Will against God’s will, for imposing our Will upon another or for choosing a Defiant and rebellious Will to rule our decisions, relationships and life choices.

2.Renounce your personal Willful Strongholds so that you can have the authority to pray against and break off the stronghold of another.  Satan will see if there is an open door in our own lives so it’s crucial we must go through our own personal repentance. (Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16) If you cannot be honest in the company of others, then repent to God in private but do NOT skip this step. 3.Now you can enter the courtroom with boldness and ask for Mercy and Grace because you’ve received it for yourself so you can boldy request for another. (Jesus Himself modeled this prayer: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34)

4. Pray this Prayer:

“Heavenly Father,
I lift up my own personal struggle of my Will.  Please reveal every stronghold I’ve carried in my Will that was a choice against your Will.  I repent for my personal rebellion, obsession with self and wanting things done my way. I receive the washing of my spirit. So I can come boldly to the throne of grace.
Lord, within the next few minutes reveal the strongholds of my Will. And, Lord, as I learn these things and repent for them, not only will you wash me clean, but please set me on a new path. So I can do things differently. I commit to writing this list so I can come against the evil in myself and refer back to this list when needed,
I believe that as I repent for my sins, I now carry the power and authority to pray on the behalf of the one I’m fasting for or the situation I’m fasting for. This authority granted to me by Jesus Christ and the blood he shed at the cross. I thank you for this honor. I don’t take it lightly. This is a serious transaction in the courtrooms of heaven.

“Heavenly Father,

In this last Day we are Binding the Spirit of Pride in our own heart, mind and will.  We are releasing our Personal Will under the submission of the Personal Will and Mission of Jesus Christ. We commit to not only declaring the mind and will of Christ but reading the actual words of Jesus and living those out. For Day 3, commit to meditating on Matthew 5-7, the words and commission of Jesus.

Speak this from the heart:

“I submit myself to the will of God. If my words and my life don’t align to God’s will or ways, I will allow the power of the Holy Spirit to rule my decisions and my heart. I give the desires of my Heart and Flesh to be ruled and subdued by the strength of my Will submitting to the Will of God, my Father.”

Verses for the Will:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Romans 12:2

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay.” Romans 12:19

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:12-14

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.  Submit yourselves then, to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.  Wash your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double minded.  Grieve, mourn and wail.  Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up.” James 4:6-10

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing.” Philippians 2:14

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Proverbs 13:4

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay.” Romans 12:19

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:17

The Beatitudes (Matthew 5-7)

“And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Believers Are Salt and Light

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Christ Fulfills the Law

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Murder Begins in the Heart

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

Adultery in the Heart

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

Marriage Is Sacred and Binding

“Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’  But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

Jesus Forbids Oaths

“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Go the Second Mile

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

Love Your Enemies

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Do Good to Please God

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

The Model Prayer

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Fasting to Be Seen Only by God

“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The Lamp of the Body

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

You Cannot Serve God and Riches

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Do Not Worry

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Do Not Judge

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.

Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow Way

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

I Never Knew You

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Build on the Rock

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” Matthew 5-7
