WHO WILL BE DECEIVED — AND WHY
The Bible is explicit. Deception is not random. It happens to specific people for specific reasons.
- Those who do not love truth
Not those who never heard it — those who rejected it.
“They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.”2 Thessalonians 2:10
Truth is not neutral. If you don’t love it, you will eventually hate it.
“God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false.”2 Thessalonians 2:11
This is judgment, not accident.
- Those who practice lawlessness
Jesus is blunt.
“Many will say to Me… ‘Lord, Lord’… And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’” Matthew 7:22–23
These people use Jesus’ name but refuse His authority.
Lawlessness = calling sin “grace.”
- Those who seek signs more than obedience
Miracles do not equal truth.
“False christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew 24:24
Those who chase experiences instead of holiness are easy targets.
- Those who love the world
You cannot love God and still cling to the system that opposes Him.
“If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
End-time deception will be comfortable, popular, and culturally approved.
- Those who refuse discipline and correction
Correction protects. Rejection of it destroys.
“Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD.”Proverbs 1:29
“Itching ears… they will turn away from the truth.” 2 Timothy 4:3–4
- Those who trust religious identity instead of obedience
Being “Christian” by label will not save anyone.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom… but the one who does the will of My Father.” Matthew 7:21
Church-goers will be among the most shocked.
WHAT NOT TO FOCUS ON (ACCORDING TO GOD)
God repeatedly warns against distractions.
- Do NOT obsess over dates and timelines
Jesus forbids it.
“It is not for you to know times or seasons.” Acts 1:7
Date-setting breeds pride, fear, and disappointment — never holiness.
- Do NOT chase the Antichrist
The Bible says watch Christ, not the counterfeit.
“See that no one leads you astray.” Matthew 24:4
Those obsessed with antichrist often ignore Christ’s commands.
- Do NOT focus on worldly survival over spiritual faithfulness
Preservation is not the goal — faithfulness is.
“Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it.” Luke 17:33
End times are not about comfort.
- Do NOT rely on religious performance
Works without obedience are worthless.
“Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” 2 Timothy 3:5
God is not impressed by outward religion.
- Do NOT fear persecution
Fear compromises truth.
“Do not fear what you are about to suffer… Be faithful unto death.” Revelation 2:10
Fear is one of Satan’s greatest weapons.
WHAT GOD DOES COMMAND US TO FOCUS ON
“Keep yourselves in the love of God.”Jude 21
“Be holy in all your conduct.” 1 Peter 1:15
“Hold fast what you have.” Revelation 3:11
“Watch yourselves.” Luke 21:34
End-time deception will not look evil.
It will look spiritual, loving, inclusive, reasonable, and compassionate — while denying obedience and truth.
“The whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” 1 John 5:19
Only those who love truth more than comfort will stand.
WHY MANY PASTORS WILL BE DECEIVED (AND WHY JESUS WARNED US)
Jesus did not say deception would mainly come from atheists.
It comes from inside the religious system.
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing.” Matthew 7:15
Sheep’s clothing = they look safe, sound loving, biblical, and familiar.
- Pastors who fear people more than God
This is the root.
“The fear of man lays a snare.” Proverbs 29:25
When pastors fear:
• losing members
• losing income
• losing platform
• being labeled “unloving”
They begin editing truth.
“Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?” Galatians 1:10
A pastor who fears people cannot shepherd souls safely.
- Pastors who preach grace without repentance
Jesus never separated grace from repentance.
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
But many preach:
• forgiveness without turning
• mercy without obedience
• love without holiness
“They heal the wound of my people lightly, saying ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.” Jeremiah 6:14
This is end-time deception.
- Pastors who avoid judgment, hell, and the fear of the Lord
Jesus spoke about hell more than anyone.
“Fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
A pastor who never warns is not loving — he is negligent.
“If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet… I will require his blood at the watchman’s hand.” Ezekiel 33:6
- Pastors who replace Scripture with psychology or culture
Self-help sermons don’t prepare people for persecution.
“Preach the word… rebuke, correct, exhort.” 2 Timothy 4:2
“The time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:3
That time is now.
- Pastors who measure success by numbers instead of faithfulness
God never asked for popularity.
“Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” Matthew 7:13
Big crowds ≠ God’s approval.
- Pastors who deny or downplay obedience
This is the most dangerous lie.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15
End-time Christianity often says:
“Obedience is legalism.”
Jesus says:
“Obedience is love.”
HOW JESUS SAID TO LIVE IN THE END DAYS
Jesus gave clear, repeatable instructions.
- Stay alert spiritually
Not entertained. Not distracted.
“Be on guard, keep awake.” Mark 13:33
Distraction is one of Satan’s most effective tools.
- Do not be shocked by lawlessness
It will increase — even in churches.
“Because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:12
Cold love = compromised truth.
- Endure hatred without compromise
You will be hated for obedience, not for being kind.
“You will be hated by all for My name’s sake.” Matthew 24:9
Soft Christianity avoids hatred.
Biblical Christianity expects it.
- Remain faithful, not comfortable
Comfort is not promised. Faithfulness is required.
“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10
- Keep your lamp full (personal holiness)
Borrowed faith will not work.
“The foolish took no oil with them.” Matthew 25:3
Oil = genuine, maintained relationship with God.
- Do the will of God quietly and consistently
No spotlight needed.
“Blessed is that servant whom his master finds doing his job.” Matthew 24:46
- Watch your heart
Jesus warned about this more than signs.
“Watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness, and the cares of this life.” Luke 21:34
Worldly anxiety dulls spiritual alertness.
FINAL, SOBER TRUTH
Many pastors will sincerely believe they are serving God — and be wrong.
“They are blind guides.” Matthew 15:14
This is why Jesus repeatedly said:
“Let the one who has ears to hear, hear.”
Your responsibility is not to follow a pastor blindly — but to follow Christ faithfully.
“Follow Me.”
— Jesus
