I had a dream where I was baptizing myself in a bathtub. But the tub was dirty. Film from the sides and dust from the bottom began floating on the top of the water. As I emerge from the tub, all this gross stuff is stuck to my body.
I leave the bathroom and come back and now there are three bathtubs. The filthy one I just baptized myself in, a second one with murky water(but not as filthy as the first) and the last on overflowing with clean water and fresh bubbles.
Lord, what does this dream mean? What is that filth in the first bathtub?
“My Precious Jules,
Religion is the filth! You cannot clean yourself from the outside in—you find the cleansing power of my Spirit through relationship with Christ. You are beginning to understand this. With obedience, comes sanctification and as you walk it out, the Holy Spirit flushes the flesh out.
It’s like having a good run. Working your body moves your circulatory system to flush and remove all toxins that need to go. Don’t expect an immediate sanctification. This is what it means to go from glory to glory. Notice how each bathtub represents a certain level of cleanliness. Sanctification is a process of coming to me in your filthiness and walking with me in obedience so I can move through the circulatory system of your life and change it from the inside out.
Each bathtub represents a different season of your obedience and what was pulled out of you that didn’t need to be there. You are being sanctified in your body, soul and spirit. I’ve been beckoning you towards the cleansing process of what I want to reveal that has always been inside of you. This explains why you’ve always felt my presence strongly at the spa. I’m thrilled you’ve answered the call to come away and go deeper with me. You’ve trusted me in the dark and painful process, and this reveals the warrior within. Keep going deeper, Jules. I’m with you.”
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
“But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:10-11
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
“Heavenly Father,
I praise you for your patience!
You have no issue with me repeatedly returning to you!
The truth is, you delight in my desire to be clean before you.
Today, I reject the guilt, shame and condemnation religion works to weigh upon me.
I declare I am washed by your word, obeying your spirit and by trusting in YOU, not in what I can do.
Bless me with patience, kindness and grace for myself and this process of trusting your lead.
You would never call me into a place you haven’t prepared me for.
You are building a deep dependance upon you, the Almighty. I open my arms and commit myself to your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
