- Reconnect to the God of your Salvation.
Over a decade ago, God radically delivered me. In the war between light and darkness, I learned to cling fiercely to Him. As time went on and the battle became less intense, I didn’t fall into sin but into complacency. If this is happening to you, don’t go into condemnation but ask God to highlight the miracles and blessings you aren’t noticing. Begin by focusing on that, using it as a point of worship.
“You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him and cling to Him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
- Fall in love with Jesus again.
Prioritize fostering intimacy with God. It’s not about Him answering my prayers and making my life easy. It’s about me connecting with God, inviting Him into my everyday life. It’s also about celebrating who God is without any strings attached. Do you know that friend who only texts when she needs something? Ask yourself, are you this way with God? Is this how you are making Him feel? Consider what you can do to make God smile today. It might be as simple as saying, “I love you. I appreciate you. You don’t have to do a thing for me. I just want you to know that.” We must remember being in God’s presence is a great honor and a sacred gift. We must stay sensitive to His Spirit and respectful of His presence and using your time request favors could be the most selfish thing we can do.
“But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” Revelation 2:4
- Honor your sacred time together.
Just like the Jewish priests prepared their bodies with ritual cleansing and certain garments, we must remember to cleanse our spirits and don ourselves in humility. It’s great we know Him as a friend, but we must always remember He is GOD. This is what the Bible means when it talks about the fear of the Lord. It’s about Holy Reverence. A great way to focus on the attributes of God is to focus on the names of God and their meaning. (Again, my obsession with names and what they stand for!) Doing this will keep the focus of your worship time on Him…and the more you celebrate His attributes, the more you will recognize how He is deciding to show up for you in this current season. Look for Him and you will find Him!

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
- Don’t replace serving God with serving people, especially when you are in ministry. To help keep your focus, ask God to give you extreme discernment on which assignments are your’s to say yes to. When you feel He is calling you to something, go all in for Him. As you serve others, keep in mind that you are doing this for Him. We are called to be His hands and feet but most of all we are called to be His heart. This means we must stay connected to the why behind serving others.
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” Matthew 15:8
