Our relationship with the Holy Spirit is our most precious gift. Not only should we not take it for granted, we should cultivate it. For like any relationship, we do not want to allow the fire or passion to die out. We must attend to what we deem important.
These are some simple things I do in my life:
- Stay in gratitude
I like to keep a Victory journal of all my answered prayers. Sometimes when I’m discouraged, I encourage myself by reading what God has done in my past. It’s easy to forget things we don’t take note of so treasure the gifts of answered prayer so you can use them to build your faith for new requests.
I stay astonished and continue to remind myself, God, others and the Enemy that God is good and I have receipts. (proof)
- Speak to the Holy Spirit constantly.
It’s silly just to go to your prayer closet. I have a designated spot I go to the Lord in prayer but I honestly bathe my house in constant communication with God. When I’m doing the dishes, laundry or cleaning are excellent moments to stay connected to His heart.
“He who kneels before God can stand before the Devil in battle.”
The Devil HATES prayer.
Why? Because it’s your intimacy and connection with God defeats his tactics. A weak Christian is one who only uses prayer to get him/her out of trouble. They don’t see prayer as a LIFESTYLE. A habit. A necessity. For a True Believer prayer is not an option, it’s our lifeblood.
“Be still and know that I am God.”
Jesus said, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:60
What does this mean? For things which don’t have a significant purpose, you must let them die because they will keep your spiritually weak.
-Get rid of all distractions.
-Weed out people who have no FIRE or FRUIT.
-Choose the Holy Spirit as your top priority.
“If you are a friend of God, you’ve made yourself an enemy of the devil.”
How to stay on point with God:
- Focus more on what God is doing than the Devil’s distractions.
The Enemy will always remind you of your past, so he can impact your future. But you must keep your eyes on Jesus.
“And teaching then to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
- Stay teachable!
I can’t tell you how many people who have come to me for help but weren’t hungry for God. They were desperate to get out of their situation and wanted to keep doing things their way. They had no intention to follow God, they just wanted to use me and waste my precious time. As Believers, our lives and time are valuable recourses God wants to use and the enemy hopes to waste.
We must discern what God is truly calling us to do and steward our time and attention on what will bear fruit. This doesn’t mean we will see the fruit. But, if God calls us to do things, it will always be fruitful. If a person has a heart of defiance, rebellion and entitlement, they are not moving in a spirit of humility and teachablity. It’s best to move on and just pray for God to soften their hearts.
Pray for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for the Power to overcome:
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
I break and demolish every stronghold, set-back and hinderance right now.
I put the fire of God and His justice on every devil that has robbed my time, identity, purpose and destiny with the Holy Spirit.
Father, renew my spirit and refresh my soul by baptizing me in your River of Living Waters. I receive a fresh baptism from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
I receive a full renewal and fresh transformation.
Lord, let your spirit stick to mine closer than a brother for with you we can conquer the enemy together.
Be my best friend. You are welcome to saturate my home, relationships, marriage and friendships.
Wherever I go, go with me so I can do what you’ve called me to do with Power and Authority! In Jesus’ name, I declare I will live my destiny in you. Amen.”
